Yaso’s CEO Wins Startup Championship

Yaso’s CEO wins 2025 Championship at Chicago startup contest.

Yaso Therapeutic’s Co-founder and CEO, Mary Weitzel, recently won the 2025 Championship award at the MedInvest competition in Chicago, IL, billed as: “Where Capital Meets Innovation.”

Yaso is developing PPCM, licensed from the University of Illinois, Chicago, and recognizes Chicago as one of the top 5 cities in the US for life science innovation.

Ms. Weitzel stated “Based on in vitro studies, PPCM promises to be one of the safest and most effective drugs under development, filling women’s unmet need for effective, safe, pleasant, and affordable contraceptives and prophylactics against disease. As they used to say, ‘Failing to plan is planning to fail’ and we believe family planning can improve the prospects for individuals, families, and indeed the whole country.”
